Halloween Fun!

We’ve got 3 fun ways to celebrate Halloween this year!

Let’s wrap up October with a fun treat to make with the kids, a festive craft and a special concoction just for the witches + warlocks (umm, that’s mom + dad!) of the house!

Make adorable scary toilet paper roll Halloween monsters, witches, ghosts, Frankenstein, and more! Just paint or wrap paper around the cardboard tubes and decorate! You can also just roll up pieces of paper into tubes or use paper towel rolls.

Halloween Bark

Here’s a great but simple recipe for Halloween bark that is easy to have the kids or grandkids help with! Thank you to blogger Lauren Ravan for this fun idea!

Witches-Brew-Halloween-Cocktail-1.jpg

We’re loving this almost “glow in the dark” cocktail that we found via The Chunky Chef! This witches brew cocktail is not incredibly strong… it’s more of a party punch type of drink where your guests can enjoy them all night long without getting sloshed.  In the recipe notes section (right below the recipe itself) I’ve detailed a way to make this drink stronger, and even a non-alcoholic version as well.

I like to serve this drink in my martini glasses, which hold 8 oz, but you can definitely serve them in any glass you’d like.  The black sanding sugar rim is optional, but I think it adds an extra bit of spookiness, especially as some of the black sugar mixes with the drink, leaving little black swirls.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/2 oz Midori melon liqueur

  • 2 1/2 oz lemon lime soda (Sprite is what I use)

  • 2 1/2 oz orange juice

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Add ice to a cocktail shaker and pour ingredients in. Cover and shake until chilled, then pour into martini glasses and serve.

NOTES

TO SERVE AS SHOWN IN PHOTO: Add black sanding sugar to a small plate, and light corn syrup to another small plate. Dip rims of martini glasses in corn syrup, then into sanding sugar.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS: Add a pinch of edible luster dust for a subtle sheen. Reduce lemon lime soda to 1 1/2 oz, and add 1 oz vodka for a more alcoholic drink. To make non-alcoholic, use 3 1/2 oz orange juice and 4 oz lemon lime soda, then add a few drops of green food coloring.
